To achieve success (fish regulatory compliance), GreenScreens utilized computational fluid dynamic (CFD) testing to verify the screens have uniform flow through all sides and there are no higher velocity locations at the screen face. We also make sure the velocity going into the screen is less than the average speed of the typical salmon species (primary species for fish screening). When this is the case, the juvenile fish can out run the suction forces right next to the screen face.
In the analysis to the right, we are verifying we have no water velocities outside the screen face that are higher than 0.2ft/s (yellow coloring). The use of a baffle pipe is used to spread out the flow when the screen is long.
